After the same 2018 hailstorm that devastated Applegate Landing, Peatross Apartments, just a few blocks away in Colorado Springs, also suffered significant damage. The roofs were badly compromised—but what stood out most wasn’t just the structural damage. It was the shattered glass, debris, and safety hazards scattered across a community where families lived and children played.
NexGen Roofing didn’t wait in line for the opportunity—we created it by doing what others wouldn’t.

2. The Challenge

When we arrived to inspect the property, we weren’t alone. Over a dozen roofing companies were lined up to speak with the property manager, each hoping to win the contract. Instead of waiting our turn to pitch, we walked the property to assess the damage.
That’s when we saw it: broken glass across sidewalks, shattered windows left exposed, and children playing dangerously close to scattered debris. Despite the dozens of contractors who had stopped by, no one had taken action to protect the families living there.
As a father and community-minded company, we couldn’t stand by and do nothing.

3. Our Approach

Without asking for permission or trying to sell anything, our founders drove to the nearest Home Depot, loaded up on brooms, trash bins, tarps, and cleanup supplies, and spent the next six hours manually cleaning up the property.
We removed debris, sealed exposed windows, swept up broken glass, and made sure the community was safe for its residents—especially the children.

Afterward, we approached the manager and asked,
“How many roofing companies came today?”
“About 10–20.”
“How many cleaned up this property to protect your residents?”
“None.”
That’s when we told them:
“We didn’t clean it for business. We did it because it was the right thing to do.”
